Fortress Old Town – Sinj

  Remnants of the old fortress, that the people
of Sinj simply call the Town, have been faithful to watch over Sinj even today,
after the passage of centuries. It harboured the people and soldiers during
Turkish invasions, guarded and protected the weak, resisted invaders. In the
centre of the fortress there was St Michael’s church in which, on the altar of
St Barbara, the Franciscans from Rama laid the precious and miraculous image of
the Mother of Mercy. In 1699, through the advocacy of Father Pavao Vučković, in
the town at the foot of the old fortress the building of St Mary’s church

Nutjak at Trilj – Old Croatian fort

  Utvrda Nutjak nalazi se 3 km nizvodno od Trilja, na desnoj obali rijeke Cetine. Podignuta je na litici iznad rijeke, nedaleko od mjesta gdje Cetina napušta Sinjsko polje i nastavlja svoj vijugavi put kanjonom do ušća u Omišu. Krajem XV. stoljeća poljički knez Žarko Dražojević inicirao je izgradnju utvrde kako bi ojačao sjevernu granicu Poljičke kneževine u obrani od Turaka. Žarko Dražojević iskazao se kao jedan od najistaknutijih hrvatskih velikaša u borbama s Osmanlijama. Poginuo je 1508. godine i pokopan je u splitskoj katedrali. Nutjak je osvojen oko 1513. godine kada je pala i obližnja utvrda Čačvina. Mirom u Srijemskim Karlovcima 1699. godine Nutjak je dodijeljen Veneciji, a suprotna obala Cetine i tvrđava Čačvina ostale su pod turskom upravom. URead More…
